As the skin engages in wound healing, a wonderful process occurs throughout each of the systems that comprise the skin. According to a study published in the World Journal of Surgery, there are six wound healing stages, each of which rely on one another in order to completely close a wound. Understanding the skin and how it heals when an injury or procedures occurs is important for comprehending how the brows will heal.

When pigment is deposited into the skin the needle creates small punctures. The needle penetrates the upper one-third of the dermis. After the skin has been punctured, the skin may start bleeding, although using the correct depth, bleeding should be minimal. This happens because the injury breaks or tears the tiny blood vessels, which are right under the skin's surface.

You might see some clear fluid on or around the brows along with some slight bleeding.

This clear fluid is called lymph fluid and is made of salt, water, and protein. Lymph fluid takes on the role of wound protector by cleaning the wound, fighting infection and overseeing the repair process. These fluids cause clotting which works like a plug to keep blood and other fluids from leaking out.

stages of wound healing

Factors That Affect Healing

  • Skin treatments that include regeneration of the epidermal cells. The pigment is attached to the cells of the skin layer, and as the cells exfoliate, take the pigment with them.
  • Microdermabrasion, waxing or other exfoliating therapies therefore increases the risk of skin irritation, or even creating a wound. You need to discuss any such products and prescriptions with your clients.
  • Chemical peeling, fruit acids, micro-derma abrasion, laser treatments, and mezzo-therapy. If done in the brow area, these will affect the micro blading result.

Skin Treatments-

Retinols-

  • The use of retinols (Vitamin A) or acids like Glycolic, Lactic, or their blends things the dead skin of the epidermis.

  • Clients must be off Retin-A or Retinols for 7 days prior to your appointment and avoid using on or around the area for 30 days after.

  • If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely.

  • If the client resumes the Retin-A or Retinols after the 30 days, please knot that the continued use will fade the pigment.

Sunlight and Light Therapy-

  • Sunlight and light therapy can cause the premature fading of the pigments implanted into the skin.

  • Exposure to artificial light, such as the light produced by tanning beds, solariums, lasers, light therapies, or Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL), is not recommended after treatment.

  • Client must not have tanned or burned skin the brow area.

  • Sunlight can affect the color of the healed result in the pigment.

healing process

Please avoid the following:

  • Most clients require at least 2 sessions, the initial procedure and a retouch 6-8 weeks following the initial procedure. The 1st session is to build the shape and gain symmetry. The 2nd procedure is to perfect the brow and add density. Immediately following the procedure, you may experience minal discomfort to the treated area. During the first week, the treated area will initially appear to be darker and bolder in color and more sharply defined than the final result. Minimal scabbing or flaking of the skin is normal throughout the process.

  • Day1-4: Keep brows hydrated with directed ointment. Apply especially before bed.
  • Day 5-14: apply ointment once a day

Caring process

Microblading (Microshading) result normally last 1-3 years with yearly touch-ups to maintain results.

Additional eyebrow makeup application may still be required post procedure.

Post healing

what the

client can expect

2 to 3 hours after the treatment wet (but don’t wet too much, just barely dump it) a cotton pad on a little sterilized water and gently clean the area. In the first day, do that around 3 to 4 times, any time you feel you should do a little cleaning in the area.

Day 1-

2 weeks after

When you wake up, gently apply a slightly dumped cotton pad (you can use again sterilized water). Make sure to be as gentle as possible and repeat this cleaning about 3 to 4 times during the day. Apply a tiny bit of Aquaphor to brows. But that should be just a tiny bit. Like a dot or the equivalent of a half rice. This will help keep your brows moisturized. Remember to always be as gentle as possible.
Clean your brows as usual with a slightly dumped cotton pad. This time you can mix the sterilized water with a one or two drops of witch hazel. Do it 3 to 4 times during the day. Be cautious and do not exaggerate on the products because the brows should not be wet or glossy.

Day 5-14

The scabbing should be done and sloughed off at this point. You might panic thinking all of the microblading pigment is gone or it might appear greyish. Again, no need to panic. Your brows should be healed enough at this point that you can fill in with some powder temporarily.

Day 2-5

All of the sudden the pigment can be seen a little better and you can see the defined strokes. It might still be a little splotchy but much, much better than it was. You are all healed! The color should be settled and you should have a soft and natural looking brow.
